Semi-Intensive Poultry Management Program

  • Among the development programs implemented by the Sri Lanka Hadbima Authority, this is a very popular program among farmers. The farmers targeted for the Authority’s development programs are low-income rural farmers, and often they can be categorized as being at the lower end of poverty. Because of this situation, many experience chronic malnutrition in rural areas. The main reasons for this are the protein deficiency in livestock and excessive stunting in those areas. To address this, a small-scale livestock management program has been implemented in the Hadbima development program areas, and it is planned to continue this program in 2026 as well. For the poultry management programs, under the semi-sheltered poultry management program for the selected farming communities, the target is to provide 50,000 chicks, with an expected expenditure of Rs. 50,000,000.00.
  • A program to provide chicks that lay eggs among rural communities is planned to be implemented. For this program, it is planned to identify 100 farming families, and an amount of Rs. 10,000,000.00 is expected to be spent for this.
