The Sri Lanka Land Authority has launched a program to train village leaders in order to successfully complete development projects scheduled to be implemented in 2026. For this purpose, 74 village leaders selected from Grama Niladhari divisions implementing development programs in the Kandy District were successfully trained on September 22 and 23, 2026, at the Institute of Rural Development Training and Research.
On this occasion, the gathering was attended by R.D. Siripala, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Land Authority, A.K. Perusinghe, Executive Director, Ishani Jayawira (Assistant Director – Projects and Planning), Upul Jayatilaka (Assistant Director – Development), along with regional and unit managers.
The main development programs of the Sri Lanka Land Authority are the Soil Conservation Program and the Water Resources Conservation Program. These programs train the village leaders to engage with the community, maintain good relationships, and provide the necessary support for the program.
